Paintbrush Plant (Haemanthus albiflos) - Native to the coast and mountains of South Africa, the Paintbrush Plant creates traces of yellow “paint” over any surface touched by its large flowers. It gets its name, “paintbrush”, because of its fluffy white flowers.
This species produces paintbrush like flowers which are greenish-white and the flower season lasts for a long time. The large paired leaves are evergreen and leathery with fine hairs along their edge, The plant will grow to a height of 30cm. This is a fascinating species as it has large handsome, thick leaves with an unusual flower in the shape of a large paintbrush and red berries as fruit.
Care: indirect sunlight. Allow the soil to be slightly dry in between watering, around once a week (depends on the season).
